If you spent some time on the internet this weekend, you may have seen some news about Bloodborne Remastered coming to PC and PS5 in August. The message came from what appeared to be a commonly known entertainment and gaming news account by a named Nibellionwho has been on Twitter at least since May 2012. But the news was totally fake, and the account, and Nibellion spoofhas fooled several fans into believing that FromSoftware and Sony are working on a remaster of Blood-borne.

Developed by FromSoftware and released in March 2015 for PS4, Blood-borne is a gothic action RPG inspired by Victorian times that took the world by storm. It did not have it same degree of commercial success as Elden Ringbut Blood-borne continued to score high marks from critics for its tight gameplay, atmospheric soundtrack, exciting world and Lovecraft themes. For anything in the world, Blood-borne was a hit among comic book fans where people just wanted to return to the world of Yharnam once again, even after The old Hunters DLC launched in November 2015.

That was what allowed the fake Twitter account NIbellion to hack in and start some Blood-borne discourse with fake news. May 30, NIbellion — notice the big “I” here—tweeted that a remastered version of Blood-borne coming this year. It would include “enhancements” like 60 FPS, native 4K resolution and beam-track reflections, with Sony subsidiaries Bluepoint Games and Nixxes Software collaborating on the project together.

I mean, just examine the above tweet for a moment. I have already pointed out the misspelled name as a dead giveaway that this is fake news. But if you look at PlayStation Blog link NIbellion shared along with the announcement, you will see that it is an archive post from 2015. By clicking on the link you will come to a blog from January 2015 about Blood-borne‘s lifetime. Even before we actually went to the PlayStation blog, there were several signs that this NIbellion is not the Nibellion we have come to know as the insider in the industry.

Still, because NIbellion looked like the real thing, people happily swallowed the lie. Some said it was “the best news ever” while others used Morbius memes at joke about being trolled. Does not everyone fell for itwith some people warn others about it the news was fake. Even the real Nibellion stepped in to correct the recordand says he has none Blood-borne news “for us.

The fake NIbellion walking past a1 online told Kotaku over Twitter DMs he mimicked Nibellion because his account is not verified and it is easy to create a “bootleg version” of his name as it is filled with small i’s and l’s. a1 said he was not trying to start a discourse. He really just wanted to “lure a couple.” [his] followers maybe a few more, ”but the list went further than expected. Still said a1 Blood-borne was the obvious game to start a rumor on.

Blood-borne is a game that is talked about a lot on Twitter, ”said a1. “Quiet hill, Blood-borneand ‘GTA VI‘and a few other games almost trending or gaining an unfounded reputation almost like every month, so the choice was easy for me. Blood-bornesince Quiet hill have just got a reputation and I have already done so GTA VI one, but Blood-borne I did not do that, so I figured it would be an easy choice. “

While a1 found the internet reaction to his tweet funny, he really hopes someone else Blood-borne is underway.

“Well, who obviously does not want a sequel to one of the greatest games of the last generation,” said a1. “It was my first Fromsoftware game, and I really wanted a sequel to it, or even a remaster of the first one.”

As for the real Nibellion, he told Kotaku over Twitter DMs that he likes to “keep a low profile” and chose not to give a more detailed answer. However, it seems on Twitter that he is at least a little boring of the fake account.
