What you need to know
- Chromecast with Google TV officially goes on sale in eight European countries on June 21st.
- Google is also releasing the streaming device in four more countries, including Taiwan, New Zealand, South Korea and India.
- Customers in each region will be able to access a localized user interface as well as content recommendations.
While Chromecast with Google TV has been available for purchase in many parts of Europe, you can only get one through third-party retailers. That’s changing now that Google has announced the availability of the streaming device in eight European countries directly via the Google Store.
The streamer goes on sale in the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland and Austria, according to Android TV guide (opens in new tab) on Twitter.
Google Holland also confirmed in a blog post (opens in new tab) that it will be available to buy in the country from 21 June for € 70. However, availability dates and prices may vary by country. Apart from the official channel, Chromecast with Google TV will also be sold through partner retailers including BCC, Bol.com, Coolblue and Media Markt.
In addition to these European countries, Chromecast launches with Google TV in four more territories, including India, Taiwan, New Zealand and South Korea, according to FlatPanelsHD (opens in new tab). Customers in these regions will have access to a localized user interface and content recommendations.
As a result, some of the features available in the US and other markets, such as the “For You” and “Live” tabs, may not appear on the top navigation bar of your screen if you live in one of these countries.
That said, with Google TV coming to Europe and other regions, Chromecast remains the same streamer that debuted in September 2020. It provides support for 4K resolution with Dolby Vision and Atmos content. However, there are the usual limitations, such as 8 GB of built-in storage space.
The streamer’s expansion into these regions takes place almost two years after it was first released in the United States. Nevertheless, it is still one of the best streaming devices that money can buy today if you do not mind the aging hardware.
Chromecast with Google TV
Google’s latest streaming device has it all, including 4K HDR support, Dolby Vision and Atmos support, and for the first time a remote control. When combined with the excellent Google TV interface and low cost, Chromecast with Google TV becomes one of Google’s best new products in a long time.
