That mass migration at Ubisoft continues with Child of Light and Far Cry 3 director, Patrick Plourde. As reported by Axios, Plourde has decided to work independently after nearly 20 years in the company, where he directed and worked on several successful projects, including Rainbow Six Vegas, Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs 2.
Ubisoft has confirmed the departure of the Far Cry 3 director
A spokesman for the company confirmed Plourde’s departure to Axios, where Plourde himself stated that he now wants to venture into areas outside of gaming. “Most of my time is going to be working with Ubisoft, but now I want a position outside of a traditional structure (with mandates across departments) and I want to be able to deal with other areas outside of gaming , which I kept an eye on for a while without having to ask my employer for permission, ”he said. He further tweeted:
R6 Vegas, AC, FC3, CoL, WD2 … it’s been a privilege to work with everyone at Ubi on these amazing games!
Now I am happy to tell you that I am starting my own independent creative consulting firm where I will continue to work with Ubisoft and also spend time on some personal projects.– Patrick Plourde (@patrick_plourde) April 13, 2022
According to Axios, Plourde is one of Ubisoft’s executives who reportedly had “several bug reports” filed against him. This was revealed by A Better Ubisoft – a group of current and former Ubisoft employees who have fought for better working conditions and more accountability in the company. However, it appears that Plourde’s decision to resign does not stem from these reports or any of the investigations that Ubisoft claims to have carried out on the above complaints.
In other news, the next Battlefield 2042 update will apparently include more than 400 bug fixes and improvements, and Firewall Zero Hour developer First Contact Entertainment appears to be working on an unannounced PSVR 2 game.
