It seems that Infinity Ward is increasing the marketing of Call of Duty 2022, which is expected to be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The developer relaunched the Modern Warfare series in 2019 to huge commercial success and rave reviews after a period of games set in the distant future that included space combat and advanced movement. Players responded to these posts with mixed reactions, however Call of Duty modern warfare felt like a return to form and reminded players of the series’ golden age while still repeating what the franchise had done until then. Now it looks like Infinity Ward is ready to unveil the long-awaited sequel.
After confirmation of this year’s accession will be a successor to Call of Duty modern warfare, Infinity Ward went quietly on the new game. Now it has taken things a step further by deleting all its Instagram posts and flipping it Twitter profile picture into a black circle and its banner image into an extremely dark image. Twitter user MrDalekJD made the banner image brighter, and while it appears to be pretty much nothing, it’s an image of Ghost, one of the franchise’s most iconic characters. Ghost made its debut in the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in 2009 and subsequently returned in post-launch content for Modern warfare (2019) and War zone. It is expected that he will play a major role in the campaign for the new game, which is strongly rumored to be centered around the Colombian drug cartel.

Earlier this month, insider RalphsValves suggested that something Call of Duty-related would come in late April. They also mentioned that a unveiling was planned for May, but maybe a teaser telling fans when to tune in to the right unveiling will come later this month. Details are still scarce about the project, but it is highly rumored to be one of the most ambitious Call of Duty games to date with a brand new sandbox mode.
