NVIDIA AD102 GPU with 900W TDP and dual 16-pin power connector
NVIDIA has reportedly prepared a test card for a flagship RTX 40 “Ada” graphics card, powered by not one but two 16-pin power connectors. This model is reportedly designed for 900W TDP, which is even more than the previously mentioned 850W.
It should be noted that several sources now claim that the top GeForce RTX 40 SKU, which is expected to be launched later this year, will be designed for the 600W TDP, which could be the next generation of the GeForce RTX 4090 SKU. Therefore, the rumored 900W variant is either an RTX 4090 Ti to be launched later, or a side project that at some point may end up as a real product. Nor can it be ruled out that NVIDIA will bring back its TITAN series because the doctor also claims that it will have 48GB of 24Gbps memory.
In fact, there is another full-fat AD102 SKU with 900W TGP, 48G 24Gbps GDDR6X, 2 * 16pin and higher frequency.
But no one knows if it will be a real product. Because the test card in the AD102 has more than two 16-pin connectors, so anything is possible.– kopite7kimi (@ kopite7kimi) April 27, 2022
In addition, Kopite7kimi also confirms the latest specifications for the RTX 4080/4070 models. Interestingly, each SKU is now expected to have a different GPU. RTX 4080 would rely on GA103, while RTX 4070 would get AD104 instead. NVIDIA would also increase the memory capacity of each of the segments, the xx080 series would now get 16 GB (ie an increase of 4 to 6 GB, depending on which RTX 3080 model we compare with), while the xx70 series would see 4 GB more ( 8GB -> 12GB).
RTX 4080 will use AD103 chips, built with 16G GDDR6X, has a similar TGP to GA102.
RTX 4070 will use AD104 chips, built with 12G GDDR6, 300W.
Both have not started testing yet, but will do so soon.– kopite7kimi (@ kopite7kimi) April 27, 2022
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 gaming series codenamed “Ada Lovelace” should be released in September or October if rumors are to be believed. NVIDIA is expected to launch more cards, including high-end RTX 4090, 4080 and 4070 SKUs, with more cards to follow later.
