I do not have to tell you that Call of Duty franchises are hugely popular. Likewise, you are already well aware that Modern warfare sub-franchise within Call of Duty is also quite successful. So it’s not surprising that we get another one Call of Duty Modern Warfare, this one successor to 2019 MW restart. But did you know that this is actually the 10th Modern warfare game and the fourth that ends in a 2? What world do we live in …
Yesterday, after much speculation and a lot of rumorsInfinity Ward and Activision formally announced that the next entry in the long-running Call of Duty franchise would be the title Modern warfare II. We’ve even got a new logo for the upcoming shooter. That uh … that’s fine. It’s a nice logo. Move on.
Now we do not know much about this game, except that it is a follow-up to 2019 Modern warfare restart. I assume there will be weapons. Some multiplayer modes. Probably a bold mission involving night vision goggles or tanks. You know, Call of Duty shit. But even though I can not predict the future, at least not yet, I can look to the past and pull the crazy net from a franchise that Activision has created with Modern warfare series.
Here is the full list Call of Duty game which uses Modern warfare name. Some of these are mobile ports or handheld spin-offsbut they were all officially sent with “Modern warfare”Hit the front of the box, so in my book they count:
- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
- Modern Warfare 2
- Modern Warfare 3
- Modern Warfare Reflex Edition
- Modern warfare mobilized
- Modern Warfare Remastered
- Modern Warfare 2 Remastered
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: Force Recon
- Modern Warfare (2019 Restart)
- Modern Warfare II (restart successor)
Let’s try to clarify this. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the successor to Modern Warfare (2019)which was a restart of Modern warfare, and is not related to Modern Warfare Remastered or Modern Warfare 2 Remasteredboth of which are part of the same subseries within Call of Duty that includes Modern Warfare 2: Force Recon and Modern warfare mobilizedwhich is a DS port of Modern Warfare 2but not the remastered version, but instead the original, which is not the new game just announced, which is a sequel to the reboot Modern warfare.
Wait, I’m more confused. Regardless, Modern warfare II (Does not Modern Warfare 2) will be released later this year across the usual platforms, I suppose. It is technically, in my opinion, the 47 Call of Duty games ever made. We all live in hell.
