Last year’s iPhone 13 series was not so big an upgrade over its predecessor, but this year’s The iPhone 14 lineup could be a lot more exciting, the Honorable suggests Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman (via iMere).
Gurman reiterates many of the predictions we have heard before, such as the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will be massive upgrades compared to their predecessors, and the new phones will have same overall appearance as the outgoing models.
The journalist has confirmed reports that said the 5.4-inch mini model has been retired in favor of one 6.7-inch Max model. He also gives confidence to rumors that said 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will transfer last year’s A15 Bionic chip – which by the way is not dull and has a clear lead over the chips that drive best Android phones today – while the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max will be powered by the new A16 chip, which is said to be based on a more advanced 4nm manufacturing process, which should make it faster and more powerful efficient.
The pros also most likely have a pill cutout for the biometric Face ID system and a hole cutout for the front camera, while the regular models will stick to the notch.
He has also supported rumors that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will get a new 48MP main sensor, and this is apparently the reason why their camera bump has gotten bigger. The 48MP wide-angle unit is said to be larger than the 12MP camera it replaces, and the lens height has also increased by about 5 to 10 percent.
The entire range could also offer satellite connectivity, which would allow phones to send messages and SOS alerts over satellite networks. According to an earlier report, all models will get one new front camera that will be able to produce sharper and brighter images,
And finally, Apple may be introducing some new colors, including one new purple shade, which will change shades depending on the lighting.
The iPhone 14 series is likely to be announced in September.
