Blueholes MMO TERA shuts down

Bluehole’s MMO TERA shuts down after nearly 10 years of service outside South Korea.

“After careful consideration, the developers of TERA have unfortunately made the difficult decision to end the development of the game, as they feel they are no longer able to deliver the satisfying content that TERA players deserve. Instead, they want to focus their internal development efforts on other projects, “publisher Gameforge wrote in a statement.

“Gameforge has happily hosted a fantastic community in TERA for almost 10 years now and would happily have served players even longer, but without the support of the developers this is not possible.”

The publisher stated that the option to purchase Tera Thalers and TERA club purchases will be disabled on May 31st. Then, on June 30, all TERA servers will be disabled.

Gameforge did not, however, mention how this decision would affect the game’s console ports, except to note that migration options will not be an option.

The publisher also shared the news in a tweet, expressing disappointment with this news, but that one “must respect Bluehole’s decision”.
