SpaceX CEO and new Twitter owner Elon Musk took to his new platform to point out that Truth Social has surpassed Twitter in a ranking of Top Free Apps in Apple’s app store.
“Truth Social is currently hitting Twitter & TikTok in the Apple Store,” tweeted Musk, who was quickly “liked” by nearly 80,000 users.
He shared a ranking from AppFigures.com that showed Truth Social in front of Twitter and TikTok.
Truth Social first appeared in the Apple Store in February 2022.
ELON MUSK BUYS TWITTER, GIVES CONCERN FROM DEMOCRATS
Musk, who has often criticized Twitter for its abundant censorship, recently struck a deal to buy the platform for about $ 44 billion, saying he intends to use it to promote free speech.
“Freedom of speech is the foundation of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital urban space where issues crucial to humanity’s future are discussed,” Musk tweeted shortly after Twitter accepted Musk’s significant offer.
ELON MUSK TO BUY TWITTER FOR $ 44 BILLION
Truth Social is a social media platform founded by the Trump Media & Technology Group in opposition to Twitter, with the goal of giving users an opportunity to have “an open, free and honest global conversation,” according to its website.
The platform was set up shortly after former President Donald Trump was permanently banned from Twitter, and many conservatives migrated over to it.
Many people were quick to criticize Musk’s purchase of Twitter, something he welcomed when he said he hopes his critics stay on the platform.

I hope even my worst critics stay on Twitter, because that’s what freedom of speech means

By “freedom of speech” I mean just what matches the law.
I am against censorship that goes far beyond the law.
If people want less freedom of speech, they will ask the government to pass laws for that purpose.
Therefore, going beyond the law is against the will of the people.
