Gearbox joins forces with Ballantine’s to release a Borderlands-themed whiskey

Border areas x Ballantines is the collaboration we did not know we needed

I do not know about you, but I love some good video game merch that extends beyond the classic t-shirt or mug. Some companies get really creative with the kind of products they offer fans to represent their favorite brands, and in this case, one of these companies is the developer behind Border areas series, Gearbox. They have teamed up with Ballantine’s Whiskey, the second best-selling brand of Scotch whiskey in the world, to create a new spirit inspired by the games, or more specifically their infamous bartender figure Mad Moxxi. The themed blend of Scotch whiskey is lovingly dubbed “Moxxi’s Bar Edition”.

As part of the partnership, Ballantine’s official YouTube channel has just released an advertising trailer, which includes Moxxi himself talking about his new whiskey, as well as others Border areas side characters, Amara and Claptrap. The animated short gives us some silly teasing between the characters, shows off Moxxi’s whiskey and of course even encourages Vault Hunters to drink responsibly.

In a funny press release in the universe, Ballatine’s also named Moxxi the new Chief Galactic Expansion Officer for the brand, as Moxxi said:

“A good partnership balances business and pleasure on an equal footing, and ours got off to a good start. George Ballantine came to me with a suggestion worthy of blush. He offered me my own special range of bottles. I call it ‘Moxxi’s Bar Edition’. Get your fingers in one of those sugar, they will treat you right. Like the best things in life, things go smoothly. ”

If it was not good enough, the whiskey will also be available for purchase soon Borderlands 3, which also comes with other bonuses in the game. When the drink goes live, it will also be available for purchase in the real world, though Ballantine’s said it will only be available on a first-come, first-served basis. I do not know about you, but for me, Border areas and Ballantine’s whiskey feels like a match made in heaven.
