God of War: Ragnarok Dev assures fans that it’s coming this year – IGN

A God of War: The Ragnarok developer has assured fans that the game will definitely be released this year.

To celebrate the four-year anniversary of the last God of War game, director Cory Barlog had released a video that said, “I just wish we could share [Raganarok footage] with you, but it’s just not ready to be shown. “

This led to some concern among fans that the game would see yet another delay, but after a fan on Twitter asked Sony Santa Monica animation director Bruno Velazquez, he simply said, “Ragnarok is coming this year.”

The game, originally slated for release in 2021, was pushed back “to ensure Santa Monica Studio can deliver the amazing God of War game we all want to play,” PlayStation said at the time.

However, some fans have been skeptical as only a few minutes of the game have been shared. When it delayed Ragnarok, Sony also said that Horizon: Forbidden West would be launched in 2021, but that did not happen.

The protagonist Kratos’ voice actor later revealed that he was part of the reason for Ragnarok’s delay, but said he had to undergo physiotherapy after several surgeries in 2019 and therefore could not work.

Ragnarok was announced for PlayStation 5 (and later confirmed that it will also be coming to PS4) in September 2020, and a three-minute trailer was shared a year later.

In our 10/10 review of the 2018 original, IGN said: “God of Wars excellent characters, world and battle go together to form an unforgettable adventure.”
