Google is working to turn your smart screen into a wellness hub

Would you use your Nest Hub as a central unit for all your wellness measurements?

I do not suggest that you show your health data so that the whole household can see itbut it’s a new feature that you can turn on for your Google Nest Hub.

The ability was initially discovered by 9to5Googlewho managed to find a Google support page that guides you through setting up how to view sleep and activity measurements on a smart screen or Google TV-enabled screen.

They are called activity metrics, and you can turn them on by navigating to the Google Home app and then tapping your profile picture at the top of the screen. Select from there Assistant Settings> Wellness. Then press Activity and select which services to sync. You need to make sure of that too Proactive results the device is switched on. Note that once the feature is turned on, you run the risk of others seeing the results as they pass the smart screen.

However, it does not appear that the feature has been fully rolled out yet. Like 9to5Google, I’m limited to only being able to connect and view data from a quiet account as part of my activity. I can also integrate sleep data from Fitbit or Google Fit, but it does not appear on the screen for me.

From details gathered by 9to5Google, Google is likely to show sleep only measurements directly on compatible Nest Hubs, such as second generation one, which has Soli-powered sleep sensor integrated in a specific Wellness tab. My Lenovo 8-inch smart screen does not have that tab available, and it is unclear whether other smart screens, such as the third-party releases from Lenovo, will have the same capabilities. It is worth noting that the support article is clearly categorized under “Google Nest Hub (2nd generation).”

As it stands, we’ve heard the rumors about what’s next for Google’s Nest Hub series. Earlier reports has indicated that there will be a kind of smart home hub, although it will be more tablet-like.

I contacted Google for clarification on the activity metrics and whether they are available on third-party smart screens.
