Google makes it easier to buy things with the Play Points you forgot you have

You will soon be able to instantly use Play Points for in-app purchases

You might be surprised to hear that it is almost four years since Google rolled out Play Points in the first markets. This loyalty program gives points for buying content and installing apps, but using the points usually requires some foresight. Google says it plans to make Play Points usable for in-app purchases right in the box office’s workflow.

If you’re something like me, you are not very aware of how many points you have accumulated, but maybe you should. You can check your Play Points balance in the Play Store – tap on your account profile and points should appear at the top. Depending on how much you spend on Google’s ecosystem, you get a set of points between 1.1 and 1.4 for every dollar spent. The value of the points varies slightly depending on promotions and the like, but the value is only a few percent of your spending.

Currently, you can redeem points for account credit, coupons and content in the game from the Play Store client. The upcoming renewal allows you to apply points for on-site purchases. In the animation above, you can see 999 points counted as $ 9.99 for an in-app purchase. Google says you will be able to use points for an entire purchase or split it up with another payment method.

This feature will hit all Play Point markets in the coming weeks. But you might want to check out the redemption tab in the Play Store, as there could be better deals in there for specific content.
