Google renames Android Security ‘Protected by Android’

It seems that Google has launched a new campaign to emphasize how secure Android really is. In the new ad that appeared on YouTube, the company has rebranded its slogan and chosen to go with “Protected by Android”.

Google has committed to this new change by announcing a new 50-second space on YouTube. The video does not really offer much information, but it does provide some key phrases that some might find encouraging. For example “You have peace of mind”. The video also touches on being safe from malware and other malicious apps, thanks to its “Verified by Play Protect” service and better privacy management.

The same points are also reflected on Android’s security website. The website has also been renamed, underlining the slogan “Protected by Android”. While the YouTube video does a good job in its limited time, the website has many more details about security.

It goes into more detail about how Google Play Protect can analyze malicious apps before they are even downloaded to your device. There is peace of mind thanks to account security, with regular checks in place to see if your account passwords have been compromised. Of course, this is just a small selection of what Android has to offer in terms of security, and it does not mean that you can fail your guard. It simply means that there are layers involved to protect you during your Android experience.

Google recently hosted its annual I / O 2022 Developer Conference, which covered everything from Android, Android Auto, and other Google core products. If you were unable to watch the event or simply did not capture everything that was announced, you can follow our Google I / O 2022 recap post, where we gather all the highlights of the conference in one place.
