Google’s Pixel Watch is going to be called Pixel Watch, because of course it will

A new trademark application apparently confirms the completely obvious name

By all accounts, Google’s first smartwatch looks almost ready for debut. After years of uncertainty, speculation and no shortage of rumors, it finally feels as if everything is falling into place and while nothing is yet official-officially, the pace and quality of the latest leaks could easily convince us that a Google I / O (or at least shortly thereafter) launch is in the cards. Now, perhaps some of the strongest evidence to date for that theory has just arrived, as Google uses the trademark “Pixel Watch”.

Although we’ve been calling Google’s supposed laptop a Pixel Watch for a while now, it was really little more than a very descriptive feeling, low-hanging fruit of a guess. And while we would not have been so surprised to see the company eventually go by a different name, this trademark application seems to make Google’s intentions clear.

The company filed its application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on April 19 (spotted by 9to5Google), though the papers note that Google has a previous international application pending last fall in the island nation of Tonga. Google has applied for trademark protection under both watch and smartwatch product categories, which is exactly what we expect to see for this device.

While “Pixel Watch” certainly looks like the name that this portable device will eventually debut under, we’ve been following the evolution of what’s the code name Rohan – and do not be surprised if you see that name appear. a few times more as last-minute leaks arrive in the weeks leading up to launch. Google I / O launches on May 11th, and we would certainly not be surprised if Pixel Watch shows up.
