Warner Bros. Games’ Gotham Knights have received its international rating, giving fans a teaser of what may be waiting for the Batman family.
A recent rating revelation in Taiwan for upcoming Warner Bros. Games’ Gotham Knights suggests some of what players can expect from the DC adventure.
Taiwan unveiled its PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S ratings, listing them as the PG-15. Twisted Voxel pointed out the lack of publicity for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and questioned whether this meant the game would only be released on next-generation consoles now despite the official website saying otherwise, or whether the rating means beta the test will only run on PS5 and Xbox Series. The rating comes as no surprise given the dark theme of the story and the inherent violence that can be expected in a Batman Family crime-fighting game.
Gotham Knights is a completely open world co-op online action adventure that takes place after Batman’s death. With the passing of the Dark Knights, it’s up to the Batman family to clear the streets of Gotham of a new criminal underworld. “It’s a city in the open world right from the start. And no, there’s no level gate at all,” creative director Patrick Redding explained as he discussed Gotham Knights in December 2020. “It’s really that when you encounter crime in the open world (and other activities involving AI), you want to see a number, right? You might see guys who are a little weaker than you, and guys who are a little bit stronger than you. And how you approach each of those situations, it gives you some choices that you have to make. “
Gotham Knights was originally scheduled for a 2021 release, but was delayed until 2022 due to performance issues and a need for more development time. According to the game’s official Twitter account, “We’re giving the game more time to deliver the best possible experience for players. Thank you to our amazing fans for your tremendous support for Gotham Knights. We look forward to showing more of the game in the coming months. “
Expectation to Gotham Knights has been widespread and has put it on many lists for one of the year’s most long awaited games. The ability to play as Batman’s adopted family has thrilled fans, especially when pitted against some of his most infamous enemies. Mr. Freeze and The Penguin have already been confirmed, but Gotham’s big new crime syndicate is the Court of Owls, which gets their game debut.
Gotham Knights will be available on October 25, 2022 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S.
