Steam’s new Going Rogue sale is going to push the boundaries of what you think of as a roguelike or a rogueite – but it’s OK, you can just enjoy the limited but hefty offerings.
The sale started on Monday 2 May and runs until 9 May. It has four specific categories of games to choose from: roguelike, roguelite, Souls-like and Metroidvania. There is also an accompanying blog that explains the differences and similarities between all the categories if you take note that the four genres are grouped together.
The Going Rogue sale seems to be more of a curation project for Steam, rather than a typical sale that shows games together in an easily accessible way. There are lots of great games on the list that are worth picking up even if they are not for sale, e.g. Vampire survivors, Elden Ring, Dead cells, Hadesand quite a few more.
But for games it actually is on sale the discounts are quite steep. Here are eight games worth picking up during Steam’s limited Going Rogue event:
If you are specifically looking for games to play on your new Steam Deck, please note that of the recommended games above, Sekiro and Rogue Legacy 2 are the only two games that are fully supported. Jedi: Fallen order is indicated as “playable”.
It is possible that Steam could add more discounted games during the week, but for now, the eight games listed above are your best options.
