Any smartphone or tablet running at least Android 5.0 can record gameplay footage as long as you have the latest, most up-to-date version of the Google Play Games app. The process is easy, but it’s worth noting that you must first create or log in to an account from your Play Games app to access the feature. Otherwise, the screen capture button will not appear.
- First, download and install the Google Play Games app from the Play Store if it is not already installed on your device.
- Open Google Play Games and tap the Profile tab at the bottom right.
- Create or login to your Play Games account.
- Tap the “Library” tab in the middle to see all the games currently installed on your device.
- Instead of pressing the “Play” button, tap the icon of the game you want to record.
- With your chosen game’s Google Play Game profile open in the app, tap the camcorder icon at the top right.
- Select your favorite video quality, then press “Start”.
- Touch the red circle icon to start recording.
- Press the camcorder button to switch to the camera screen on the front, or press the microphone button to switch external audio.
- Touch the red square icon to end the recording.
If you have chosen to use your front-facing camera during shooting, you can also drag the floating secondary screen to any part of your screen. After recording, a pop up will appear at the top of your screen, tap it and select “edit and upload to YouTube” to share it.
Press and hold the floating shooting icon to the center “X” to remove the screen capture overlay.
