Jesus does not love you in the new game I, the Inquisitor

Jesus ind I, the Inquisitor, is not forgiving. He is the exact opposite.

In the new game from The Dust SA, you will play in a world where Jesus takes revenge on the non-believers, instead of giving them forgiveness for his own crucifixion. It’s a wild concept, and it’s inspired by the novels of Polish author Jacek Piekara. On Tuesday, the developers released a trailer showing how punitive Jesus can be.

The game imagines an alternative story 1500 years after the crucifixion. At that point, instead of dying, Jesus becomes “engrossed in utter wrath” and “breaks free and unleashes violent vengeance on all unbelievers,” according to the game’s Steam page. Now inquisitors enforce the faith by force.

You’re going to play as Mordimer Madderdin, an inquisitor of the holy office, who honestly looks a lot like the depictions we see of Jesus with his long, brown hair. From the sound of it, he is responsible for carrying out punitive measures against these non-believers. While playing, you will explore a land called Konigstein and live through a “conflict that has not yet emerged.”

The original teaser trailer featured a person praying for a cross in the game’s gloomy, medieval setting. The new trailer shows how brutal and violent this world can be, while a camera pans through scenes that include people hanging on the gallows and a room filled with torture instruments. (Whether this little tirade is supported by God the Father remains to be seen.)
