New F1 Edition package for Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE Performance will cost you almost € 24,000 | Carscoops

Mercedes-AMG continues to celebrate its 55th anniversary, and the latest model to mark the occasion is the GT 63 SE Performance F1 Edition, which was announced for the European market.

As the vehicle is the brand’s most powerful production model to date thanks to the technology transfer from Formula 1 “, Mercedes pays homage to what is basically a € 23,800 ($ 25,109 / £ 20,104) package that leaves the driveline unchanged.

It’s quite expensive, but the F1 Edition has an exclusive Manufaktur alpine gray exterior with AMG letters as well as a color gradient that fades from gray to black. They are accompanied by red accents and 21-inch forged wheels with a matte black finish.

The model is equipped with an AMG Aerodynamics package, which includes a black high-gloss rear wing and an optimized diffuser. The package also adds a larger front splitter and air deflectors.

Buyers will also find the AMG Night and Night II packages, which add high-gloss black accents, a black chrome exhaust and dark tinted glass. They are accompanied by a dark lattice and black chrome emblem. In addition, there is a refueling cover in silver chrome with “AMG” writing.

When they move into the cabin, buyers will find AMG Performance seats in black nappa leather with red contrast stitching. Elsewhere, there are red seat belts, carbon fiber cladding with red accents and AMG door frame panels with red lighting. Rounding out the highlights are special floor mats and an “exclusive Edition emblem”.

Last but not least, buyers will receive an indoor car cover with the F1 logo as well as an “antistatic interior fabric made of flannel.” The latter is designed to protect the vehicle from dust and scratches.

While the style changes are interesting to note, the GT 63 SE Performance is all about the powertrain. It has a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, a rear-mounted electric motor and a 6.1 kWh battery pack. This setup gives the car a combined power of 831 hp (620 kW / 843 hp) and more than 1,032 lb-ft (1,400 Nm) of torque.

Thanks to these generous numbers, the model can rocket from 0-62 mph (0-100 km / h) in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 196 mph (316 km / h). The range GT is also environmentally friendly as it can drive 12 km (7.5 miles) on electricity alone.
