Terraforming control simulator Per Aspera has a new expansion on the way, arriving on May 2, 2022, which will deepen the game around the all-important source of life: Water. New buildings will allow transportation across your newly created Mars Garden, as well as the exploitation of underwater resources and – perhaps most importantly – fishing to reap the life you have sown in these oceans.
Other buildings featured in the announcement trailer appear to include floating power plants, ports, shipyards, research outposts and perhaps floating algae and fish farms. Developer Tlön Industries said in a press release that new outposts will allow research of special underwater sites and that the update will also improve Per Aspera’s simulation of Mars’ water cycle.
I’m pretty positive about Per Aspera, a game that I gave 85 in the first review, and which has improved a lot since its launch. The first expansion, Green Mars, was completely free and added more fauna, demarcated biomes and outdoor gardening as well as landscaping. It’s a nice game, and I’m glad to get more material – because it’s not just a sim game, it’s also a narrative game that encourages you to think and behave like an AI.
