Samsung teases us with Google Assistant on Galaxy Watch4 in its latest video

When will this long-awaited update finally arrive?

Samsung Galaxy Watch4 is the best Android smartwatch we have seen and it looks like it will get even better: Google Assistant support has been confirmed to be coming to Galaxy Watch4 soon. While Watch4 already has voice assistant support through Samsung’s own Bixby, users have been pretty vocal about their desire for Google’s alternative. We still do not know for sure exactly when it will land, but Google Assistant is already at the center of a new Galaxy Watch4 ad posted on Samsung’s Spanish YouTube channel.

Last week, Verizon updated its Watch4 support pages and announced a new system update that provides Google Assistant integration. This information has since been removed from the site, and Google confirmed that Assistant Support was not yet rolling out.

However, the key word here is clearly “yet”, as Samsung’s new ad shows a man asking his Galaxy Watch4 to play YouTube Music by pulling Assistant up with “Hey Google”. While Assistant only records three seconds of the 15-second ad, it is clearly meant to be the prominent feature here (spotted by 9to5 Google).

Samsung has been saying since February that Google Assistant “is coming soon,” and the question has been one more about “when” than “if.” Given that Google I / O is taking place early next month, it might not be crazy to expect anything official right around that time.

You can currently download Samsung’s latest update on your Watch4 or Watch4 Classic, but the Google Assistant app required to make this work is still unavailable.
