Sonic 2 is the most lucrative video game movie ever in the United States – IGN

The film has a star-studded cast that includes Jim Carrey, Idris Elba and Ben Schwartz, but it is currently unknown which members will return to Sonic 3, which Paramount announced in February.

Carrey said prior to Sonic 2’s release that this may be his last film ever, saying “I might continue down the road, but I’m taking a break,” and Paramount has already said it would not even try to replace him.

Schwartz, who plays Sonic, and Elba, as Knuckles, are likely to return, and the latter even gets its own spin-off show when Sonic’s cinematic universe was announced in February.

In our 7/10 review of the film, IGN said: “Sonic the Hedgehog 2 brings all the humor and charm of its predecessor, while being nicely more loyal to its source material.”
