Sony is upgrading 15 popular PS5 games

Sony is releasing some pretty big upgrades to 15 of the most popular games on PlayStation 5. Starting this week, the PlayStation brand house announced that it would finally start rolling out new Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support for PS5 consoles around the globe . This feature is one that many PS5 owners have been in demand for a while. However, to agree that VRR was finally added to Sony’s next generation console, the publisher also revealed that 15 titles in particular will now be able to support the feature.

If you’re still confused about what VRR is in the first place, it’s basically something that only select TVs and monitors offer, which means not everyone will be able to take advantage of its use on the PS5. However, those who can use VRR will see remarkable improvements in the performance of a number of games.

On HDMI 2.1 VRR-compatible TVs and PC monitors, the VRR dynamically synchronizes the screen refresh rate with the PS5 console’s graphical output. This enhances the visual performance of PS5 games by minimizing or eliminating visual artifacts such as image stimulation and screen tearing issues. , “Sony VP Hideaki Nishino explained in a recent post on the PlayStation Blog. “The gameplay in many PS5 titles feels smoother as scenes are rendered seamlessly, graphics look sharper, and input delay is reduced. Previously released PS5 games can be fully optimized for VRR through a game patch, and future games can include VRR support at launch . “

At the time of writing, many of the updates to these games in question have already begun to roll out before VRR has even become widely available on PS5. For example, Insomniac Games released three updates earlier this week to add VRR support Marvel’s Spider-Man remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Moralesand Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Other publishers have also started releasing the same updates, which means you can start downloading them at this point.
