Game developer asks fans to solve puzzles to help characters escape hidden spaces
Spike Chunsoft launched a website titled “Hidden Bats” on Thursday with a countdown that ended Sunday. The renewed site now features a video and a riddle that fans can solve.
It is currently unclear whether Spike Chunsoft teases a new work with the website, or if it uses the website to advertise an upcoming work. The “Bats489” video posted on the Website may be a reference to AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiativethe successor to Kōtarō Uchikoshi‘s AI: The Somnium files game. A trailer released in January for the game referred to a “Bats490” video that has similar images of bats. The game starts at PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Windows 10 and Steam in North America and Europe on June 24th.
The “Hidden Bats” teaser site is part of a larger “Sunaiku Foundation” site that Spike Chunsoft Have opened. The Sunaiku Foundation’s website states that it is an organization that will help find missing persons. The website “Hidden Bats” explains that two people named Aine Ichirai (pictured first below) and Binato Sotobara (pictured second) are each locked inside a hidden room and given a smartphone for 21 minutes every other day to post on Twitter.
The characters Aine and Binato both have Twitter accounts, although currently only Aine’s account is active. In it posts Aine Tweets in English and Japanese, and has submitted an image that serves as a clue that helps her escape from her room. Fans should use the photo along with a “Bats489” video posted on the website to solve the riddle and tweet the escape code to Aine.
Spike Chunsoft also have launched a Twitter account for Hidden Bats.
