Stubby SD card is left

SD card slots have returned to the MacBook Pro in their 2021 iteration, meaning it was only a matter of time before we started seeing MacBook custom SD cards come on the shelves again. Today, in gadgets we’ve seen before, but recent events have grown in relevance, Transcend has announced a new 1TB SD card for MacBooks: the JetDrive Lite 330.

The idea is that you can insert this device into a MacBook Pros SD slot and it will melt right in. It has the right color so it does not interfere with the overall look and it has the right size so it does not add additional bulk.

The video below is pretty compelling:

The device is currently listed for $ 249.99 on Amazon. So let’s do some quick math: Upgrading a MacBook Pro model from 1TB to 2TB of built-in storage costs $ 400, which means you can save yourself $ 150 by buying one of these bad boys instead , stick it in your SD slot and forget about it. Of course, this assumes that you do not regularly need that SD slot for anything else. If this sounds like you, this could be a fair deal.

In terms of straight specifications, JetDrive offers R / W speeds of 95/75 MB / s and is manufactured using COB (chip-on-board) technology. You can also use it in previous MacBook Pro models (late 2012 to early 2015).
