The updated timeline for the PS Plus Premium release date confirms that the US and UK will get the new combined subscription service three to four weeks after its debut in Asia.
In an update to the original PlayStation blog post Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan announced the service, outlining “target” release dates for four core regions. Asia’s launch has moved up a bit, and the US and UK are out a few more weeks.
Here is the full schedule for the “phased” rollout of PS Plus:
- Asia (excluding Japan) – now targeted at May 23, 2022
- Japan – Targeted June 1, 2022
- America – Targeted June 13, 2022
- Europe – targeted at 22 June 2022
Sony previously confirmed that its combined PS Plus program would see a staggered launch, but those are the most accurate dates we’ve had. Its long-term plan was to bring the service to “most PlayStation Network territories” by the end of the first half of the year, so those goals are on schedule.
This update also outlined extensions to the cloud streaming portion of the new PS Plus, which expands the footprint of PlayStation Now. Already included are the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden.
With the addition of Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia, Sony will bring the cloud to 30 markets. PC streaming in particular will not be available in Japan at launch, but will be added “in a future update.”
