The masquerade
Bloodhunt takes place in Vampire: The Masquerade universe, where vampires exist among the living but are sworn not to reveal their true nature. Any superhuman or monster-like behavior will attract the attention of mortals. This means you need to be careful as drinking blood in front of a deadly witness will trigger a blood hunt.
Generally, a blood hunt begins when a vampire breaks the rules of the masquerade. That is, if they reveal their true nature to one or more mortals. This could include a mortal who is witnessing a feeding or the use of supernatural powers. In Prague, this blood hunt is only temporary. Survive and the Blood Hunt will be interrupted.
Killing civilians deadly is also forbidden and will trigger a blood hunt. However, feel free to kill and suck dry as many Entity soldiers as you can.
Elevated senses
Vampires have enhanced senses that enable them to be more aware of their immediate surroundings.
Are you looking for a human with a certain type of blood resonance, or if there are any weapons nearby? No problem! You can activate your increased senses at any time to scan your surroundings and find the resources you need to survive the night.
It is also helpful to identify vampires if they are trying to pretend to be deadly.
Drinking blood and blood resonance
Drinking blood is crucial to a vampire’s survival, but all deadly blood is not the same. Depending on what mood the mortal is in, their blood gives vampires unique boosts. This is called blood resonance. In Bloodhunt, there are four types of blood resonance:
- Sanguine – This blood resonance has a pink aura and speeds up your healing.
- Choleric – This increases your melee damage, so be sure to fill up with this type if you prefer to get really close. You will recognize it by its orange aura.
- Phlegmatic – This resonance has a blue aura and reduces the cooling of your Archetype Power.
- Melancholy – You will identify this blood resonance through its purple aura. Drinking this blood reduces the cooling of your clan power.
Not all mortals have resonant blood. If a mortal does not have a colored aura, they can still restore your health, but you will not get any special boosts.
Additionally, when playing Bloodhunt Mode, you may encounter certain people who give you an extra life. You can only pick up this extra life you have lost one life already. By default, you can only have one extra life at a given time.
Diablerie
When you are about to destroy conflicting vampires, you can choose to commit diablerie. This not only gives them their final death, but also means that you consume their soul by drinking their Blood.
Since this move requires you to get close and requires some time, it can be a risky move. However, the XP achieved and the extra Blood Resonance slot make this brutal final move worthwhile.
Melee weapons with special abilities
Some weapons in Bloodhunt have special abilities that you can learn and use. For example, Katana can deflect bullets, and Scourge Blades allow its users to perform a special stroke attack. Learn to use these weapons to your advantage to surprise the enemy.
Entity and find the best weapons
Bloodhunt has many weapons, but not all are of the same quality. The best are purple and golden weapons, but unfortunately these are usually found in areas that are heavily guarded by the Entity.
Get familiar with where the Camarilla caches and Entity Strongboxes that give birth to these weapons are, and fight or sneak past the Entity to get to them. They are worth the effort and can mean the difference between death and eventual death in battle.
Either way, it’s always a good idea to kill as many monsters as you can …
And with that said, we think you’re ready to dominate the night now. Until next time, see you at dawn!
