Grab your magic wands and your cute Victorian boots, folks. Nippon Ichi Software has announced that the classic PS2 strategy title GrimGrimoire get a remaster. Currently under development at Vanillaware, the delightful title GrimGrimoire one more time launches in Japan this summer on PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

As revealed in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, GrimGrimoire one more time will see the clumsy witch in training Little Blan tries to save his school, The Tower of Silver Star, from an annoying time loop, activated by an evil wizard who comes looking for the Wise Stone. A 2D real-time strategy adventure, players control Lillet as she puppets armies of mysterious relatives and fights with the evil wizard’s own dark forces.

Watch the trailer for the original 2007 release below.

GrimGrimoire was written and directed by George Kamitani The crown of the dragon fame and features the instantly recognizable art style of Kouichi Maenou. Unfortunately, despite receiving praise from critics and fans, and even being so lucky to receive a Western location, GrimGrimoire was something of a sales flop that quickly put an end to plans for an expanded franchise.

The new remaster promises higher resolution, widescreen visuals, new magic mechanics and skill tree options, rebalanced levels of difficulty, an overhauled storage system and a newly recorded voice track, as well as a gallery of Maenou’s beautiful works of art. With this sparkling remaster, maybe GrimGrimoire will find peace and success in 2022, which escaped it back in 2007. Although a western location has not been announced, NIS has shown plenty of commitment in bringing its recent release to these shores, so an international edition seems somewhat inevitable.

GrimGrimoire one more time launches in Japan on PS4 and Nintendo Switch on July 28.
