eSIM is an ingenious way to simplify mobile subscriptions, but to say that it is underutilized is certainly an understatement. Today, however, Verizon-owned Visible announces eSIM support on Android with Google Pixel 6, Pixel 5 and several Samsung phones on the list.
Visible, now available, extends eSIM support from its previous iPhone-only support to select Android smartphones. eSIM, or “embedded SIM”, works much like a traditional SIM card when it gives your phone access to a mobile network, but it does so without physical objects. Visible aims to be a “full” eSIM carrier in the future.
eSIM on Android phones is not uncommon, but it has been particularly well supported by the Google Pixel series. Whether it’s Google’s own Fi network or a major provider that supports the standard, Pixel phones are generally quite easy to use with an eSIM. Samsung has also become better at supporting the technology in recent years. As such, Visible brings eSIM support on Android to Pixel and Samsung phones first. Pixel phones have been supported for some time, but Samsung devices are eligible for Visible eSIM as of today.
What is supported? You’ll be able to use a visible eSIM on any of Google’s and Samsung’s latest Android phones, such as the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro as well as the Galaxy S22 series. The only major omission we are seeing right now is for Samsung’s foldable phones, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3. You can see the full list below.
