A giant Warzone update is imminent with the release date of season 3 upon us. Activision reveals tons of information about what’s coming to its mega-popular Battle Royale. Including both Godzilla and King Kong, in what promises to be a giant battle in the Pacific.
As with the launch of any new season of War zone, at the top of your agenda you should avoid a quick trip to the Gulag; the second place on the list is to find out what changes are coming to the Pacific island of Caldera.
Warzone Season 3 is called ‘Classified Arms’ and it introduces new weapons to support this name. Whether they will be of much use against the oversized threats, however, is a big question. Fog bombs have exploded around the caldera and they have unleashed some well-known giant-sized creatures. Godzilla and King Kong have marched around Caldera Island, leaving their mark on the countryside. And they will even have their own event, called Operation Monarch. Hints for the event are scattered throughout the map, including strange ancient cave paintings and a ‘second earth ax’.
Expect a new level of loot and scoot in your future if you want to survive and overcome the challenges that Warzone Season 3 throws at you.

Warzone update: trailers
To see what’s coming in the new Warzone update, you should take a look at the season 3 trailers. Activision has released a few pieces describing the upcoming changes.
Warzone season 3 movie trailer
The most important Warzone trailer to watch is the cinematic trailer as it gives a real taste of everything that comes in the Classified Arms update:
Warzone season 3 Operation Monarch trailer
The big addition (with emphasis on the big one) in the new Warzone update is an epic battle between King Kong and Godzilla. Activision keeps an eye on what exactly it will entail, but you can catch a glimpse of it in this monster-filled trailer for Operation Monarch:
Warzone season 3 battle pass trailer
For the small and rough of what is included in the Warzone update, the Kampas trailer is for season 3. It gives you a look at the new cosmetics and weapon plans you will have to fight to unlock in the new season:
Warzone update: weapons
It would not be a war zone update without new weapons, and season 3 comes loaded with new equipment. Activision has revealed that four new weapons will be added to Battle Royale, and two of them will be available on launch day.
- Nikita AVT (assault rifle)
- M1916 (rifle)
With the other two weapons appearing in the middle of the season:
- Forhammer (melee)
- H4 Blixen (SMG)
Warzone new operator
The new Warzone update brings a new Warzone operator, Mateo Hernandez, which you can unlock immediately by purchasing the battle pass. He comes with two elite skins if you buy the match pass, and there are two more you can unlock by completing levels in the Warzone season 3 match pass, as well as two jokes and a final move.
Warzone update: map changes
Caldera will be in focus this season as fog bombs have been dropped on the island. It’s good to see the map get attention as it has not received much love since the Pacific update was released.
The biggest change is the addition of a brand new POI, but there are also changes to existing ones on the map:
- Monarch Dig Site (new) – a mining site abandoned after excavating massive skeletal fossils. It is located between the mine and the ruins
- Peak (Modified) Peak has been fortified, with all buildings finished and painted with Monarch logos, but still has an impressive view of the surrounding area
- Runway (changed) – The jungle brush has been cleared away and Runway now has barracks, hangars and decommissioned aircraft to serve as cover. You will also find some watchtowers and other tall structures if you want to look around
- Lagoon (changed) – the tide has changed, revealing a new sandbank that will let you get to the Lighthouse without using the bridge. It also has some coverage in the form of moored ships
- Hold (New Gulag) – in the belly of one of the ships on the new sandbank in Lagoon, is a new last-chance arena. From now on you will scrap your shot back on the map among barrels and a few times
Warzone update: event details
The rumors about the king of crossover events were true: the next Warzone update will then germinate into Operation Monarch, a major event in the game that will debut sometime into season 3 on May 11th.
Operation Monarch sees King Kong and Godzilla fight over Caldera Island, but even though they won’t arrive until next month, we’ll see signs that they’re coming from the moment the new season launches thanks to updates to the map.
Recent bombing has uncovered prehistoric fossils across the Warzone map along with other signs of less than fossilized creatures.
Operation Monarch is not only about fighting monsters, it also brings unique skins with it, like this Kong outfit:
There are plenty of new skins to unlock and buy, many of them themed after King and Godzilla.
Separated from the skins on sale, there are more than 25 free items and drawings that can be unlocked during Warzone season 3, such as “Retrofashioned” shotgun, “Regimental” Marksman Rifle and the legendary “Photon Phantom” Pistol.
