The Zoom bug has been highlighted by Google Project Zero security researcher Ivan Fratric, who wrote in an online bug report, “This report describes a vulnerability chain that allows a malicious user to compromise another user over Zoom chat. User interaction is not required for a successful attack. The only capability an attacker needs is to be able to send messages to the victim via Zoom chat over XMPP protocol. “

What should Zoom users do to avoid the risk of this error?

Using the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) model, Zoom has given it an 8.1 score out of 10. The concern is that the Zoom bug affects all supported platforms, from Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, Chrome OS to iPhones.

Therefore, experts recommend that all Zoom users download the latest update, which is version 5.10.0 immediately. To do so, log in to your Zoom account. Tap Profile Picture and click Check for Updates. If a newer version is available, Zoom will download and install it. This will help limit the potential risk of getting into your device.
