Fight future crime with the Lexus CS 2054 concept from the Minority Report | Carscoops

Almost 20 years have passed since then Minority report came to theaters in the summer of 2002, but fans of the futuristic film can join the fight against future crime by inventing this Lexus CS 2054 concept.

Designed by Caltys Harald Belker as a notion of a 2054 production model, the car will be auctioned off by Mecum next month.

The list is easy on details, but it looks like the same car – or a very similar one – was sold by RM Sotheby’s in 2013 for $ 16,500 (£ 12,851 / € 15,290). This list explained that director Steven Spielberg approached Lexus about creating a futuristic vehicle for the film. The end result was the 2054 concept, which was intended as a “collision-proof car with biometric safety systems” as well as a fuel cell driveline.

Of course, there was a lot of movie magic involved, and the car was actually powered by a “modern Chevrolet driveline.” This made it possible for the concept to run in the film, although it is worth mentioning that the car now carries the design used in The island, which was published in 2005.

While we can not be sure that the two auction concepts are the same, it seems reasonable, and the improved condition of the car can probably be explained with a note in the old Sotheby’s listing. It said: “The interior is not completely finished and the body has suffered some cracks. However, a complete, unused spare body is included in the deal.” This suggests that a previous owner may have installed the spare housing or had the original body repaired.

Either way, the auction will allow bidders to purchase not only a concept, but also a movie car.
