Players who have a power PS Plus or PS now subscription finds that they can not increase the length of that membership as Sony has temporarily disabled stack memberships for existing customers. This has led players to wonder what they might be able to do with their coupons when the new PlayStation Plus levels are introduced in June. The good news is that they can be converted to any of the three levels of PS Plus. The bad news is that PS Plus conversion rates get worse as the coupon length increases.
How will PS Plus and PS Now coupons be converted?
PlayStation players who have an existing PS Plus membership and a PS Plus voucher will be able to redeem it after the new levels are introduced in June. Those who want to extend their newly renamed PS Plus Essential membership will have the simplest time; 1-month, 3-month and 12-month coupons will do exactly what they say. Those who want to upgrade to PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium may be disappointed to find that conversion rates get worse as the length of the voucher increases:
1 month | 3 months | 12 months
PS Plus Essential | 31 days | 92 days | 365 days |
PS Plus Extra | 20 days | 58 days | 219 days |
PS Plus Premium | 17 days | 46 days | 183 days |
As PlayStation Now subscriptions are more expensive, players will get slightly longer PS Plus memberships from their PS Now coupons. However, the conversion rates for PS Now coupons are also affected in a similar way as they get worse as the length of the coupon also increases. The reason why conversion rates are deteriorating is a bit of a mystery and Sony has not yet commented.
1 month | 3 months | 12 months
PS Plus Essential | 40 days | 105 days | 365 days |
PS Plus Extra | 25 days | 66 days | 219 days |
PS Plus Premium | 21 days | 53 days | 183 days |
In other news, Final Fantasy XVI is in the “final stretch” of development, and the next “big” unveiling is scheduled for spring 2022. Elsewhere, the PS Plus games for May 2022 have been confirmed and are coming to PS5 and PS4- consoles on May 3rd.
